Jason Chytraus, 33, was charged with marijuana possession and distribution offenses, three counts of assault rifle possession, possession of a high-capacity magazine, felony weapons possession, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chytraus' bail was set at $250,000, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

Chaytraus, the target of an ongoing narcotics investigation, turned himself into Ewing police around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 22, prosecutors said.

County Narcotics Task Force members and the county Sheriff's Office searched his Oriole Drive home, where they found handguns, four assault rifles, ammunition, harvested marijuana stems, and $13,090 in cash. A 2012 black Ford F250 also was seized, prosecutors said.

A small amount of marijuana, more ammunition and a digital scale was discovered in a mobile home and a shed also on the property, prosecutors said.

That search led police to two other properties - one on Harding Street in Ewing and another in Millstone River Road in Montgomery Township, Somerset County, prosecutors said.

The search of the Harding Street address turned up small amounts of marijuana in the basement, in an outdoor grill and in a broken down car in the backyard, prosecutors said.

Police fond five pounds of marijuana - valued at about $20,000 -- packaged in various amounts in an attic space in the Montgomery Township search, prosecutors said.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, the New Jersey State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, and the Ewing, Hamilton, Lawrence and Trenton police, assisted in the investigation, prosecutors said.
