TRENTON - Police arrested and charged a Trenton man because he was using stolen license plates on a car he was unlicensed to drive, authorities said Monday.
Rashawn Barnes, 25, was driving a green Mazda pickup truck near Stuyvesant and Hermitage avenues around 4:44 p.m. Saturday. Police on patrol in the area knew Barnes was unlicensed, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Barnes was stopped. Police found he had an outstanding warrant, license plates stolen out of Ewing and no proof of insurance, Varn said.
Barnes was charged with receiving stolen property, fictitious plates, driving while suspended, failure to show insurance, and an outstanding Trenton warrant. He was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to police records.
