Authorities say three men were struck by bullets as approximately 16 shots rang out around 10:13 p.m.
TRENTON -- Garbage cans full of police tape were all that was left of a crime scene the morning after intense gunfire left three people wounded Saturday night near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Monmouth Street.
Authorities say three men were struck by bullets as approximately 16 shots rang out around 10:13 p.m.
Police arrived on scene to find two victims -- a 33-year-old Greenwood Avenue resident and a 35-year-old Philadelphia man -- who had been shot one or more times, Capt. Don Fillinger, of the Trenton Police, said.
Officers said that they soon learned that a 47-year-old Cleveland Avenue resident had been driven by a private automobile to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for wounds related to the shooting. That man suffered wounds to his left upper leg and an index finger.

According to police, the Greenwood Avenue resident told police he was walking home on Walnut Street from a nearby train station when he was shot in the lower portion of his right leg. The Philadelphia man said he dove to the ground after hearing the shots and was struck in the left ankle.
All the victims were admitted to the hospital for their wounds but officers do not expect the injuries to be life-threatening.
Police said that the three victims do not appear to be connected to one another.
Shell casings and surveillance footage have been recovered by officers and the shooting currently is under investigation.
Officers say the suspect or suspects are unknown at this time.
