Students and staff were evacuated to the bleachers of the football field

EWING -- Ewing High School was briefly evacuated Wednesday morning after a bomb threat was called in at 9 a.m.

Students and staff were escorted to the bleachers of the football field, while Ewing police and other law enforcement agencies searched the school with the help of K-9 units, school officials said.

An all-clear was declared about two hours later and students and teachers returned to class, Superintendent Michael Nitti said.

"Information related to this call and threat was gathered by our technology department and provided to the Ewing Township police and they are actively investigating this matter," Nitti wrote in a statement posted on the district's website.

Neither the district nor police would reveal any more details about the call. Capt. Rocco Maruca said no arrests have been made yet.
