The dead man and injured woman had a prior relationship.
FALLS, Pa. -- Police officers responding to a 911 call on Foster Drive early Monday found a woman in the street with stab wounds and a man inside a home dead of stab wounds.
The woman was taken to St. Mary Medical Center shortly after police found her at about 4:25 a.m., in the 6200 block of the street.
The man, David R. Mathias, III, who turned 59 Monday, was pronounced dead in the home, which he owned.
Falls police spokesman Lt. Henry Ward said the two had a prior relationship and detectives suspect they stabbed each other. "There was some kind of struggle, " Ward said.
Detectives found a blood trail from the home to the woman, Ward said.
Later Monday, Ward said police have not been able to formally speak with the woman because she was still undergoing treatment at St. Mary in Langhorne, Middletown Township.
No charges have been filed and Ward said detectives anticipate a lengthy investigation to find out exactly what happened during the incident.
The home is in the Penn Valley section of Falls.
