Trenton had a bloody weekend with four shootings and one stabbing
TRENTON -- A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times early Monday, capping a bloody weekend in the state's capital city in which three people were killed and three others were wounded.
Police found the man, whose age was not immediately known, in the area of South Clinton Avenue and Elmer Street after receiving a call from a passer-by around 3:39 a.m., said Lt. Stephen Varn. He had stab wounds to his abdomen, side, neck and back and underwent emergency surgery at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
The stabbing followed four shootings over the weekend.
On Friday, 20-year-old Keyauna Hughey was shot dead in her Spring Street apartment.
Just after midnight on Sunday, a 32-year-old man was walking down Calhoun Street when shots were fired from a passing car, hitting him once in the right shoulder and twice in the left abdomen, police said.
Three hours later, a shooting in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and Chambers Street killed two -- 21-year-old Kordese Robinson and 16-year-old Jahday Twisdale -- and critically injured a 19-year-old Trenton resident. Authorities said the two dead had gunshot wounds to the head and were pronounced at the scene.
An 18-year-old man was also shot Sunday afternoon, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He told police he was on Elmhurst Avenue around 4:16 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up and two suspects fired shots at him, Varn said. He started to run, but was hit in the right leg and driven to the hospital by a friend.
