Marques Palmer, 21, was charged with having a Kel-Tec 9mm gun, numerous magazines and other ammunition
TRENTON -- A Burlington Township man is facing weapon charges after police found a gun in his center console during a traffic stop.
Marques Palmer, 21, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, hollow-point, armor-penetrating bullets, careless driving and having a suspended driver's license.
Street Crimes Unit detectives were on patrol on Stuyvesant and Hoffman avenues around 10:41 p.m. Thursday when they saw a silver Nissan Maxima speeding on Stuyvesant Avenue, said Capt. Donald Fillinger.
They stopped the car on the 500 block of Rutherford Avenue. There were two bullet holes in the trunk that they believed could have been involved in a shooting that just occurred, Fillinger said.
As they approached the car, the officers saw the driver, later identified as Palmer, put something into his center console and lean his right arm on top of it, Fillinger said.
He was found to have a suspended driver's license and ordered out of the car. Police seized a Kel-Tec 9mm gun, numerous magazines and other ammunition, Fillinger said.
