Talaya Brevard, 34, was charged with DWI and other motor vehicle offenses
TRENTON -- Police say a Trenton woman was drunk when she rear-ended another vehicle and then fled driving in the wrong direction.
Talaya Brevard, 34, was charged with DWI, reckless driving, wrong-way driving, leaving the scene, failing to report an accident, having a suspended license and being an unlicensed driver.
The crash happened around 9:17 p.m. Wednesday. Officer Timothy Miller, who was in the area of Calhoun Street and English Alley, heard the sound of a crash on Calhoun and went to investigate, said Lt. Stephen Varn.
Miller saw the driver of a red pickup truck looking at his rear bumper when a dark-colored SUV behind the pickup abruptly reversed and sped the wrong way down Wayne Avenue, Varn said.
An alert was broadcast and Brevard was located at the corner of Middle Rose Street and Brunswick Avenue.
Brevard also had five warrants totaling $2,804.
