Nathaniel Reeves, 42, is charged with throwing bodily fluid, eluding officer and resisting arrest.

Police were on patrol on the 500 block of North Clinton Avenue when they saw a white Honda Accord being driven by Reeves roll through a stop sign, said Lt. Stephen Varn. The officers pulled up alongside Reeves, who spat at them through the window before speeding off.

Varn said a pursuit ensued, ending about two minutes later on the first block of Poplar Street. The officers had to remove Reeves from the car when he refused to get out and he resisted arrest as they tried to put handcuffs on him. He was eventually taken into custody.

Varn said Reeves also struck a car on Poplar Street during the chase.
