PRINCETON -- A 24-year-old man who was pulled from Princeton's Community Park Pool on Saturday has died.

Colin Simonelli, of Princeton, was found unresponsive at around 2 p.m. by another swimmer, municipal administrator Marc Dashield said in a release.

Lifeguards pulled him from the pool and initiated CPR before first responders arrived and continued their efforts.

Simonelli was taken to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, where he was pronounced dead later that night, Dashield said.

The incident remains under investigation by Princeton police, who will review autopsy results, Dashield said.

Simonelli was born and raised in Princeton and was a student at the University of Massachusetts' Boston campus, according to his obituary.

He is survived by his parents Tony and Susan Simonelli, brothers Mario Simonelli and Xavier Simonelli, his grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

"Municipal officials and staff send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Simonelli," Dashield said.
