2 teen girls wounded, 1 critically, in Trenton shooting

Two 17-year-old girls were taken to the hospital with injuries late Tuesday

TRENTON -- Two 17-year-old girls were wounded late Tuesday when shots rang out in the courtyard of a Trenton housing project -- the city's third shooting in two days.

Police were called to the area of Carver Lane at around 10:50 p.m. on a report of multiple shots fired, said Lt. Stephen Varn.

One girl was struck in the back and taken immediately to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton by arriving officers. She remains in critical, but stable condition, Varn said.

The other was shot in her toe. She was also taken to the hospital. She told police she was with a group of people in the courtyard when she heard several shots being fired.

Varn says police are looking for two suspects, both of whom were wearing all-black clothing.

The Shooting Response Team is investigating.

The shooting comes a day after two other shootings on Monday that injured three men.
