Fire investigators found multiple points of fire origin in the three-story building.
TRENTON -- A two-alarm fire that raced through a Division Street building last week has been ruled arson, the fire department said Monday.
Fire investigators found multiple points of fire origin in the three-story building and evidence the fire was set, Chief Fire Marshal Mike Oakley said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, Oakley said.
Firefighters responding to the July 20 fire, reported about 4:20 p.m., arrived to find flames shooting from the building, located at intersection of Genesee and Division streets.
One firefighter suffered a leg injury and was taken to a local hospital from the scene.
Oakley said Monday the investigators also learned from police department information that the structure's been used for prostitution, and police have responded there for drug violations recently.
Fire rips through Trenton building
The building was technically vacant at the time of the fire, but people may have been living there, officials said.
During the initial dispatches, responding firefighters were alerted to people possibly trapped, but fire companies did not find anyone in their searches.
Property records show the building is owned by Darwin B. Rodkin. Attempts to reach Rodkin were unsuccessful Monday.
Detectives from the city police department and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office are investigating with the fire department's fire marshal unit.
