TRENTON -- Trenton police targeted a city man originally from Burlington County for gun and drug violations and seized five firearms and quantities of cocaine, heroin, Xanax and marijuana at two houses, authorities said.
Violent Crimes Unit officers arrested Aaren Bailey, 21, at a Ewing home late Sunday, where investigators found three of the weapons and also arrested two other young men.
Bailey faces multiple firearms possession and drug dealing felonies. He is originally from Burlington City, and was currently living on Kelsey Avenue in North Trenton, police said.
The violent crimes and state police Crime Suppression Unit targeted Bailey because they received information he had guns, as well as drugs, police officials said.
Violent Crimes Unit supervisor Sgt. Anthony Manzosaid the department is always seeking to target offenders who could be supplying street dealers with guns.
On Sunday morning at about 10:30 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at Bailey's Kelsey Avenue address and found two handguns, as well as heroin and cash. Bailey was not home, but the unit obtained further warrants for him based on what was found in home.
At 10:30 p.m. that night, the unit went to a home on Running Brook Road in Ewing where they learned he was staying and detained him along with Jammal Waldron, 28 and Jaquil Waldron, 20.
After obtaining an addition warrant to search the home, which occurred early Monday, the officers found cocaine, marijuana, Xanax and another handgun and two shotguns, police said.
The Waldrons were charged with drug violations, not weapon charges, because the guns allegedly belonged to Bailey, police said.
In all, police seized 450 decks of heroin, 100 grams marijuana, 40 Xanax pills and 15 grans of cocaine, as well as $5,780 in cash. The guns included a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun, a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and a Taurus Judge revolver.
Bailey was initially held on a total of $450,000 bail from the charges.
The Trenton police Violent Crimes and state police Crime Suppression units led the investigation. The Trenton police's Street Crimes Unit, the U.S. Marshals' Regional Fugitive Task Force and Ewing police assisted investigators.
