TRENTON - A Trenton man who appears to have accidently shot himself in the abdomen Wednesday night is hospitalized in extremely critical condition, police said.
The 20-year-old man was found on the third floor of a building on the 500 block of Southard Street with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen shortly before 7 p.m., Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was rushed to emergency surgery. He was listed in "extremely critical" condition Thursday, Varn said.
The shooting response team and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force investigated and found that the man's wound was accidentally self-inflicted, Varn said.
