LAWRENCE - An overturned tractor-trailer carrying metal cargo that spilled across all lanes has shut the road causing major backups in Lawrence Thursday morning, state police said.
"I-95 in Lawrence Township is a Mess," according to a post on the NJ State Police Facebook page. "If you plan on taking I-95 northbound through Lawrence Township, think again."
The incident occurred just after 9 a.m. on the northbound lanes near Exit 7, Trooper Alina Spies said.
The truck was carrying some kind of metal cargo, which as spilled across the road, shutting all lanes and causing major backups in the area, state police said.
Lawrence police closed the Route 206 northbound ramp to the Turnpike while the truck is removed, Spies said.
The driver of the truck was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton with unknown injuries, Spies said.
It appears the truck was the only vehicle involved, Spies said.
