TRENTON - A Trenton man was charged with attempted murder after stabbing his girlfriend numerous times on Saturday, police said.
Ronald Hawkins, 58, was arrested and charged shortly after the 11:30 a.m. incident in the Kingsbury towers apartments. Police found Hawkins on Market Stret at the Route 1 overpass. He was arrested without incident, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Hawkins was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses. He was jailed in lieu of $1 million bail, according to police records.
Police were called to Kingsbury towers and found 49-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Her injuries were not considered life threatening, Varn has said.

The stabbing was the result of an argument between the two that turned physical when Hawkins picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the woman several times, Varn has said.
