A resident flagged down police at Hamilton Avenue and Route 129 around 5:30 p.m. and said a man on Hamilton Avenue near Hudson Street had a gun, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Police drove up to three men huddled together  and saw one of the trio, later identified as Joshua McRae, trying to hide something in his pants pocket, Varn said.

As officers got out of their car, the three separated. McRae ran. Officers chased, Varn said.

McRae, still trying to conceal the gun, ran into the open door of a house on the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue and into the rear bathroom of the house, where he was arrested, Varn said.

McRae was charged with weapons possession offenses, possession of hallow point bullets, obstruction, hindering and resisting arrest and four outstanding arrests. His cash bail was set at $100,000, according to police records.
