WEST WINDSOR -- Mercer County Community College graduates can now earn a bachelor's degree at the state's largest private university while saving thousands of dollars in tuition, thanks to a new agreement announced between the college and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
"This is a very good day for our students," MCCC President Jianping Wang said. "This will give them better access to a more affordable, high-quality private university education."
MCCC is the latest school to join in Fairleigh Dickinson's dual-admissions partnerships. Similar agreements have been reached with Sussex, Bergen, Ocean, Morris and Raritan Valley community colleges.
Under the agreement, first-time college students who are admitted to FDU but choose to attend MCCC -- or current students with fewer than 30 credits -- must sign an MCCC-FDU "intent to enroll" form, said Christopher Capuano, FDU's provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

Once they earn an associate degree and move on to pursue a bachelor's at FDU, they will receive a scholarship that cuts the cost of tuition by 40 percent, officials said.
This year's tuition ranges from $35,916 to $38,098, excluding room, board, books and other fees.
Capuano said other tuition reductions will be offered to members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Students who choose to live on either of FDU's two campuses will also receive a housing grant.
The dual-enrollment agreement builds on an existing partnership between the two schools. FDU is one of four schools that offers limited bachelor's degree programs to students on MCCC's West Windsor campus.
