Princeton Schools ranked #5 district in the country

Ranking website Niche.com called Princeton Public Schools the fifth best district in the country based on ratings and opinions from parents and students.

PRINCETON - One of the best school districts in in the country is nestled right in Mercer County, according to a new ranking.

Princeton Public Schools was recently named the fifth best district by Niche.com in their 2016 ranking of the top 100 public school districts in the country.

The website has been ranking public and private schools around the country for 13 years.

The district, which has around 3,500 students, was also ranked first in the state by Niche.com, which gave Princeton Public Schools an "A+" ranking.

School districts in Tredyffrin Township, Pennsylvania; Austin, Texas; Oyster Bay Town, New York and New Trier Township, Illinois beat out Princeton for the top spots.

But Princeton Schools have more to celebrate - Niche.com also named Riverside Elementary School the seventh best elementary school in the country and ranked the school district fourth in the country for "college readiness."

The results of the rankings were put together after gathering opinions from parents, students and people associated with the various school districts, according to the Niche.com page.

The top spot is not unheard of for Princeton Schools - in the spring of 2014 the district saw their own high school named 10th best in the country by the U.S. News and World Report.

In May Niche.com ranked Riverside Elementary School the best elementary school in New Jersey and the 38th best in the country.
