The 36-year-old man was struck once in the abdomen
TRENTON - A Trenton man was shot in the abdomen while walking on South Broad Street Sunday afternoon, police said.
A 36-year-old man and a 35-year-old friend were walking on the 1300 block of South Broad Street around 5 p.m. Sunday when they were approached by two unidentified men, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
A fight broke out and one of the unidentified men pulled a handgun and fired several shots. The 35-year-old man was unharmed. The 36-year-old man was struck once in the abdomen, Varn said.
He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he received emergency surgery and was admitted overnight, Varn said.
The shooting response team is investigating, Varn said.
