Trenton man charged with paintball gun possession

TRENTON - A Trenton man was arrested and charged over the weekend in a paintball incident that took place before Halloween, police said.

Jibri Chisolm, 23, was charged with weapons possession and eluding a police officer stemming from an Oct. 30 incident on Hoffman Avenue and Oakland Street, Lt Christopher Doyle said.

Detective Sgt. Darren Zappley in an unmarked police car saw two paintball gun barrels coming from the windows of a sliver Lexus stopped at the intersection. Zappley turned on his flashing lights an tried make a traffic stop when the car sped away, Doyle said.

The car, driven by Chisolm, led Zappley on a chase through several city blocks, during which time one of the paintball guns was tossed from the car, Doyle said.

Zappley found the car on the 400 block of Vannest Avenue, where two men were arrested and charged with weapons offenses. Chisolm had fled, Doyle said.

A warrant was issued for Chisolm's and he was arrested at an Edgewood Avenue arrest on Friday, Doyle said.

Chisolm's bail was set at $25,000, according to police records.
