Esdras Rivera was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and several traffic violations
HAMILTON - A Hamilton man was charged with assault by auto Saturday after he collided with another car, seriously injuring a Trenton man and drove away from the accident, police said.
Esdras Rivera, 37, was driving a 2010 Honday Odyssey south on Klockner Road when he collided with a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling west on Hamilton Avenue around 12:44 a.m., police said.
Terrence Ridley, 21, a passenger in the Grand Prix, suffered internal injuries. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. The driver, Samantha Higgins, 21, of Plainsboro, was uninjured, police said.
Rivera fled the accident. Police found him at his house a short time later, police said.
Rivera was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and several traffic violations. His bail was set at $65,000, police said.
