Dive team, firefighers pulled a car from a lake after the driver went off the edge of a parking lot and into the water, officials said.

ROBBINSVILLE -- Firefighters and members of a police dive team pulled a car out of a lake after the driver went off the edge of a parking lot and into the water today in the Windsor section of the township.

At 10:37 a.m., police responded to reports of a crash in the parking lot of 122 North Main St., and found the car had traveled off the payment and down into the water, police Lt. Mike Polaski said.

He said people had reported that the driver was trapped, but when police arrived, they found the driver, a 28-year-old Jersey City man, was walking on the edge of the water.

The car, a 2014 Hyundai Accent, was submerged in the lake, with only the roof visible, Polaski said.

Members of the Hightstown Dive Team and the Robbinsville Fire Department pulled the car out of the water, the lieutenant said.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated and no summons have been issued, Polaski said.
