TRENTON - A Trenton man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after he hit his girlfriend in the head with a hammer, police said.
Onix Montalvo-Montero, 27, was arguing with his girlfriend around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of Chestnut Street. The dispute turned physical and Montalvo-Montero picked up a hammer and hit the woman in the forehead, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Police arrived and found the 26-year-old woman in an apartment hallway, unconscious and bleeding from a wound in her head. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Her condition was not immediately available, Varn said.
Montalvo-Montero ran from the scene but was found nearby a short time later, Varn said.
Montalvo-Montero was charged with weapons offenses and aggravated assault. His bail was not immediately available.
