The district and police department say there's no credible but they will increase police presence at schools.
HAMILTON -- All the recent social media postings about creepy clowns - some reporting threats - have caught the attention of Hamilton schools, who are adding more police protection.
"Although there is no credible threat which we are aware of, the (Hamilton police ) will have an increased presence at our schools in order to provide additional security," Interim Superintendent Dr. Thomas Ficarra said in a statement Monday.
"Furthermore, all principals and staff have been asked to be on high alert and to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity or unauthorized visitors," Ficarra said in the statement."

Ficarra's statement said the school district has been in "continual communication" with police - who put out a similar statement Monday afternoon.
The police department's statement said the numerous mentions about creepy clowns online in New Jersey appear to be copycat posts stemming originally from a movie promotion.
The reports of creepy clown sightings appears to have sprouted in South Carolina late last month, and have since spread to Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and New York.
In Phillipsburg, four sightings were reported in two days last week.
