Friday's incident was the third bomb threat at the school in as many weeks
EWING -- Police have arrested a 15-year-old Trenton boy they say called in a bomb threat to Ewing High School Friday morning.
The teenager, who was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. in Ewing, has been charged with creating a false public alarm, Chief John Stemler said. He would not say whether the boy was a student or had any connection to the school.
The call came in at 9:50 a.m., forcing students and staff to be evacuated. An all-clear was declared at 12:30 p.m. after police used bomb-sniffing dogs to sweep the school for devices, finding none, Stemler said.
It was the third bomb threat at the school in as many weeks, but he could not say whether they are related.
Police are still actively investigating the other two threats, which were made Wednesday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 22.
"This is dangerous behavior and puts a lot of people in danger," Stemler said, adding that, while the threats have to be taken seriously, they waste police resources and disrupt the school day. "It's not a joke especially in light of what's been going on."
Stemler said that in the event somebody is injured as a result of a bomb threat, the suspect could be charged with more serious crimes.
Anyone with information on any of the three incidents is asked to call Detective Robert Litz at 609-882-1313, ext. 7595.
