The fire raged through a garage behind a home Saturday and reached a nearby shed.
LAWRENCE - A fire razed a garage behind a Lawrence home Saturday morning, firefighters said.
The fire started around 10 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Carter Road, according to the fire department. Firefighters who were called to the area saw heavy smoke coming from behind a house in the woods just off the road.
The flames were heavy and reached to the outside of a shed, just feet away, burning the exterior. It took firefighters around 20-30 minutes to get the flames under control and when they had, the garage had been burned to the ground, according to firefighters.
No one was harmed in the flames. Police and firefighters were sifting through the rubble around noon on Saturday. People who were gathered at the scene around the back of the house Saturday declined to comment.
