The Crisis Ministry of Mercer County will now be known as Arm in Arm
TRENTON -- The Crisis Ministry of Mercer County on Thursday officially changed its name to Arm in Arm, a move it says reflects the organization's collaborative approach to service, spirit of optimism and belief in future possibilities.
"Arm in Arm is a place where people in need find people who want to help," executive director Carolyn Biondi said. "Our new name reflects our respect for the dignity of the people we serve, as well as for their own power in the process of regaining stability."
The nonprofit, which was founded in 1980 by Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton, will continue to focus its efforts on securing food, housing and work for the 5,000-plus families it helps every year.
"Our tagline, 'Better Together' expresses our belief that we all benefit when everyone in our community thrives -- and that it takes our whole community to ensure that we are thrive," Biondi said. "Individuals, congregations, corporations, foundations, schools and businesses are all critical partners in this effort."
Its locations will remain at Nassau Presbyterian Church at 61 Nassau St. in Princeton and 123 Hanover St. and 716 South Clinton Ave. in Trenton.
The agency will celebrate its name change at its annual fall benefit Nov. 3 at the Frick Chemistry Laboratory Atrium on Princeton University's campus.
