An 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, and a 20-year-old man was punched in the head.
TRENTON -- An 18-year-old man was wounded and a 20-year-old punched in the head late Wednesday during an apparent robbery on Calhoun Street at West Ingham Avenue, Trenton police said.
Officers responding to the intersection for a reported shooting in progress at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday learned that a man was on his way to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton in a passerby's car, police said.
The teen victim was taken into surgery for treatment of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.
Officers located a 20-year-old man who said he and the 18-year-old were walking together when two males unknown to them punched the 20-year-old in the head and demanded his belongings, police said.
The 18-year-old started fighting with the two males and both pulled out handguns. The 20-year-old ran and looked back to seethe 18-year-old on the ground.
The 20-year-old then hailed a passing car to take the 18-year-old to the hospital.
The teen was out of surgery Thursday morning and listed in critical condition, police said.
The police's Shooting Response Team is investigating.
Since last Friday, 13 people have been shot in Trenton, three fatally.
