Elias Johnson, 61, faces aggravated assault and weapons charges
TRENTON -- A Trenton man is facing charges he struck another man in the head with a hammer Monday afternoon, police said.
Elias Johnson, 61, is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Johnson and the 28-year-old man, who live in the same rooming house on the 300 block of Chestnut Avenue, had a history of disputes, said Lt. Stephen Varn.
The man told police he was sitting on the steps of the house around noon when Johnson walked past him, turned around, pulled a hammer out of his pocket and hit him in the head, Varn said.

The man, who was bleeding from the head, was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
While the responding officers were waiting for a detective to arrive, Johnson returned to the area, Varn said. Johnson got out of the car, but when he saw police approaching him, he opened his back door and threw the hammer on the car floor. He was then taken into custody.
