The boy is in stable condition at the hospital
TRENTON -- Trenton police are investigating after a 13-year-old boy was shot in broad daylight Sunday.
The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 200 block of East Hanover Street. Officers responded to a report of shots fired, but while en route, learned that a boy had been taken to the hospital after being struck, said Lt. Stephen Varn.
The boy told police that he was in the area with a group of people when two males opened fire in his direction. He ran before realizing he had been hit, Varn said.
He suffered gunshot wounds to his right bicep and right torso and is in stable condition at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Varn said.
Detectives from the Shooting Response Team continue to investigate.
