MORRISVILLE, Pa. -- A borough police officer pulled a woman from her car after it plunged into the Delaware River across from Trenton, N.J. Thursday, Morrisville police said.
The 12:30 p.m. crash was a suicide attempt, borough Police Chief George McClay said.
Officer Bo Luna happened to be driving by the river at East Philadelphia and South Delmorr avenues when he saw what looked like a car in the river, McClay said.
When Luna got to the river's edge, he confirmed it was a car and saw a woman inside. He waded in and brought the woman to the riverbank, McClay said.
The water was not very deep and Luna had no trouble getting the woman out or bringing her to dry land, McClay said.
McCay said the driver, a borough resident he did not name, was taken to a local hospital for observation.
After the woman was taken from the scene, Luna and Officer Mike DiIanni stayed in the water and helped hook the car to a tow truck.
