PRINCETON -- A motorcyclist thrown from his bike on Mercer Road Saturday was struck by a passing car, Princeton police said Tuesday.

Alonso Calix, 34, of Trenton suffered serious internal injuries in the 2:20 p.m crash Aug. 13, police said.

Calix was driving northbound on a 2013 Kawasaki when he failed to control his motorcycle on a curve at the Mercer Road bridge and struck a southbound Volkswagon driven by Luis Estrada, 35, of Princeton, police said.

The impact sent Calix to the road and the driver of a southbound vehicle saw him rolling in the road, but the driver, Alexandra Schaich-Borg, 31, of Princeton, was unable to avoid striking him, police said.

An ambulance took Calix to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. His condition was not known Tuesday.

Estrada and Schaich-Borg were uninjured.

Princeton police said they are are still investigating the crash.
