A man was found shot to death Friday night on Cummings Avenue. Prosecutors are looking for a suspect
TRENTON -- A Trenton man was found shot to death on a city street Friday night and police are searching for two suspects, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
The man, Johnathan Jimenez, 32, of Hamilton Avenue in Trenton, was found unconscious outside a home in the first block of Cummings Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Friday.
He was suffering a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he later died from the wound, the prosecutor's office said.
Police investigate critical shooting
Police and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office were investigating the shooting and had not arrested any suspects Saturday afternoon, the statement said.
However, they are looking for two men who were seen fleeing the scene Friday, police said. Officers found the car the men were using on Saturday.
Hours after the shooting, friends who knew Jimenez gathered on the street, just across from the former crime scene, crying and remembering the 32-year-old Saturday.
"He was the guy," one man who did not want to be named said of Jimenez, "He was always there for anyone who needed help."
Anyone with information on the shooting can call the Mercer County Homicide Task Force at (609) 989-6406.
