If you get a call requesting bail for your grandchild, West Windsor police say it could be a scam.
WEST WINDSOR -- The West Windsor Police Department is warning elderly residents of a bail scam where police say the caller will act as law enforcement holding a grandchild in custody.
Police said reports indicate the caller will request a bail amount to be posted in iTunes cards, money cards or cash wire transfers.
A recent report said the caller put a young-sounding voice on the phone to act as the grandchild begging the grandparent not to call the parents, police said.
West Windsor Police said the department would never ask for bail to be posted in the form of iTunes or money cards.
Police urge their residents to just hang up.
