Prosecutors say a verbal confrontation led to a pistol-whipping, then gunfire.

TRENTON -- A Trenton man charged with attempted murder for the shooting of three people had his bail maintained at $1 million Tuesday.

Bayshawn Jennings, 21, was arrested on June 25, the day after one woman was shot in the eye, another was shot in the neck and a man had a bullet graze his hand.

All three people were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where they were treated for not life threatening injuries.

Prosecutors said Tuesday that a verbal argument in front of one of the victim's home on Winder Avenue turned physical when Jennings struck one of the victims in the face with a handgun.

That victim and their family members then ran into their home before Jennings began firing into the house, striking the three victims, prosecutors said.

Police recovered 17 shell casings -- a mixture of .40 and .45 caliber -- from the middle of Winder Avenue, prosecutors said.

Three juveniles were inside a room in the house where bullets had entered, but none were struck by the gunfire, prosecutors said.

Authorities said police later pulled over a gold minivan that matched the description victims say they saw Jennings use to flee the scene.

One of the victims was taken to the site of the stop where they positively identified Jennings -- still wearing the same clothes as the night of the incident -- as the alleged shooter, prosecutors said.

Jennings is charged with six counts of attempted homicide and related weapons offenses.
