The annual race sees servers from all over Princeton running with drinks to win money and prizes
PRINCETON - Taking orders and tending to customers certainly keeps most service workers on their feet. But next month Princeton servers will get a chance to put those skills to use outside of work.
The annual Waiters' race is coming back to Princeton and if participants want a chunk of money and an overnight stay at the Nassau Inn, they'll need to combine balance, speed and a strong sense of restaurant loyalty to win.
Waiters and waitresses will have to race while carrying - and not spilling - three drinks on a tray during the July 14 event. The race starts at 4 p.m. on Palmer Square and continues around the square, according to a statement from hosts, The Princeton Merchant's Association.
Servers who win will get money, a "bottle of bubbly," gift cards and - in the case of the first place winner - an overnight stay in the Nassau Inn.
Only six servers from each establishment are allowed to participate. To sign up contact the Princeton Merchant's Association or email waitersraceprincetonnj@gmail.com
