The free event takes place Thursday, June 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Trenton Police Department, 225 N. Clinton Ave.

TRENTON -- Capitalizing on their Halloween party that continues to grow in popularity, the police department is starting a summer carnival, which kicks off Thursday night.

Like the Halloween party, the carnival will take place at the department's headquarters in North Clinton Avenue.

The city's fire department and city administration are partnering with the police for the event.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., residents can enjoy carnival games, bounce houses, obstacle courses, art activities, rock climbing walls, a mechanical bull, and a dunk tank, plus music, prizes at avery game and cotton candy.

Police Director Ernest Parrey Jr. is slated to sit in the dunk tank.

"Everything is free, so bring your kids, your neighbors, and jubilation!" the department said in an announcement.

In 2014, the police department's first Trunk or Treat drew about 1,000 people. This past fall, police estimated 3,000 attended.
