The woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the stomach in 2015

TRENTON - A woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the stomach two years ago was, "lucky," Superior Court Judge Darlene Pereksta said in court Friday.

"The victim was very lucky that it wasn't worse - and you were very lucky as well," she told 20-year-old Aspen Jackson.

Pereksta sentenced Jackson to two years of probation for the attack Friday.

The sentencing comes nearly a year after the incident in April of 2015 when Jackson stabbed her boyfriend with a kitchen knife, sending him to the hospital in critical condition.

Her boyfriend - who is also the father of her child - was found bleeding on the front porch of an East State Street home just after midnight.

He survived the attack, which Pereksta called "serious," during Jackson's Friday cour appearance.

Jackson was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses at the scene.

But she took a deal and pleaded guilty instead to simple assault and a disorderly persons offense in exchange for the probation sentencing.
