Trenton had two homicides on Wednesday, three hours apart
TRENTON -- A Trenton man who was left in "extremely critical condition" after a shooting Wednesday has died, three days short of his birthday, police said.
Zaire Gibbs was shot in the torso on the first block of Washington Street at about 3:50 p.m. He would have turned 26 on Sunday.
Gibbs' death marked the city's ninth homicide this year. The city had a second homicide Wednesday when 38-year-old Elvin Grimsley was fatally shot while sitting in a car at the intersection of Whittaker Avenue and Elmer Street, police said.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating both cases. No suspects or motives have been identified.
