The man is accused of shooting a 30-year-old victim at close range on May 8
TRENTON - A Trenton man who fired six shots and hit another man in the back this month admitted to the crime, Mercer County Prosecutors said Friday.
Raymond Napper, 22, was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses after the shooting on May 8. He appeared in court Friday by way of video for a bail hearing.
During the hearing Mercer County Prosecutors said Napper had fired a gun six times at a close range and hit the man on the 800 block of East State Street.
The 30-year-old victim had to undergo emergency surgery but survived the injuries. Prosecutors did not know how many of the six shots hit the man, they said.
Napper was identified through a photo line up of potential suspects and later confessed to the shooting during an interview with police, prosecutors said.

The 22-year-old Trenton man has a history of offenses including weapons and drug offenses in 2011 and 2013, respectively, prosecutors said.
He was also on probation at the time of the shooting, prosecutors said. Superior Court Judge Darlene Pereksta read a letter from Napper's probation officer in court, which detailed all the ways that Napper did a poor job on probation.
That included missing appointments and refusing to take a drug test, the letter said.
Pereksta decided to revoke Napper's bail for the probation violation and to increase his bail for the shooting from $350,000 to $500,000.
She added that prosecutors have a "strong case."
