TRENTON -- Two teens, ages 17 and 16, have been charged with felony murder for allegedly gunning down a Trenton man last week during a robbery on Whittaker Avenue, authorities said.

The suspects' names were not made public because they are juveniles.

Trenton police officers responding to a reported shooting shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday May 11 found Ricardo Montalvan Jr., 23, wounded in a car.

He was taken to a city hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

In a statement Monday, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri and Trenton Police Director Ernest Parrey Jr. said the 16-year-old suspect was arrested immediately after the shooting.

The 17-year-old was arrested at his residence Monday morning by members of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the U.S. Marshals' NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The teens are each charged with murder, felony murder, robbery and weapon charges.

Task force Detective Robert Booth is leading the investigation.

Authorities did not elaborate on details of the shooting or the suspects.
