Philadelphia woman in stolen car causes 5-car collision in West Windsor

Three people were sent to area hospitals, police said

WEST WINDSOR - A Philadelphia woman was charged with causing two major collisions on Route 1 on Sunday that damaged five cars and sent three to area hospitals, police said.

Sameerah Satterthwaite, 29, was driving a stolen, 2016 Chevy Sonic northbound around 6:30 p.m. when she hit two cars sitting at a red traffic light at Fisher Place, police said.

The crash sent one of the cars careening of the road, while the other was disabled in the left lane of the highway. A fourth car stopped behind the disabled car when a fifth vehicle approaching from behind hit both cars in the left lane, police said.

Two women, aged 21 and 24 were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton with spinal injuries. Satterthwaite was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, police said.

The Sonic had been reported stolen from Hertz Rental Car at the Philadelphia airport Sunday morning, police said.

Satterthwaite was charged with receiving stolen property, vehicular assault, hindering. She was also issued several traffic violations. Her bail was set at $30,000, police said.
