TRENTON -- Authorities arrested a man Monday evening on charges he killed a West Ward man earlier this month.
Officials familiar with the arrest say the suspect, who was not immediately identified, was apprehended in Pennsylvania.
Further details were expected to be made public Tuesday by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Task Force.
The suspect is charged with killing Elliot Simon Jr., 52, of Boudinot Street on April 8.
Simon was shot on the block where he lived.
Trenton police responding to a ShotSpotter gunfire detection alert at about 9:10 p.m. found Simon on the street a few houses from where he lives. He died at a Trenton hospital about an hour later.
Three years ago, Simon's 19-year-old daughter, Tierra Green, was shot and killed in Trenton.
The teen was standing in a group of about 30 people when a man started firing at the group, killing her. Alton Jones, 22, was later charged with the crime.
