A 20-year-old Trenton man was shot at midnight Sunday at the corner of Dayton Street and South Clinton Avenue.
TRENTON -- A 20-year-old Trenton man was shot in the knee early Sunday by a person driving a black vehicle who had almost hit him, police said.
Lt. James Slack said the Trenton resident was walking at the corner of Dayton Street and South Clinton Avenue at 12:02 a.m. when a black vehicle turning onto South Clinton Avenue nearly struck him.
"The victim and the driver got into a verbal confrontation and the driver got out and fired one shot at the victim," Slack said.
He said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. There is no further information available about the vehicle.
Slack said the victim was hit in the knee and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he was treated.
Slack said the Shooting Response Team is investigating the incident. Anyone with information can call Detective Ricardo Ramos at (609) 989-4155.
Sunday's incident is the ninth non-fatal shooting in Trenton this month. A 52-year-old Trenton man, Elliot Smith, was fatally shot on April 8 -- the fourth homicide in the city this year.
