LAWRENCE -- A member of Lawrence's school board has resigned for personal reasons and the board is seeking replacement applicants.
Glenn Collins, a board member since January 2015, resigned recently for personal reasons, the board said in a statement. No further explanation was given.
Collins' term runs to January 2018.
During his time on the board, Collins served on the community relations and legislative affairs and finance and facilities committee and the ad hoc sports/clubs and turf committee.
The board is seeking replacements who will serve until the November 2016 election, at which time the newly-appointed member may run for election for a one-year term, ending in January 2018, the statement said.
Applicants for the board must:
- be a citizen of the United States of America.
- be at least 18 years old.
- be able to read and write.
- been a resident of the municipality for at least one year preceding the date of the election.
- not be disqualified as a voter pursuant to R.S.19:4-1.
- be a registered voter in the district.
Anyone interested in being on the board should submit their resume or letter of intent to Board Secretary Thomas Eldridge, Lawrence Township Public Schools, 2565 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 by 4:00 p.m. on May 6, 2016.
Interviews are scheduled to occur at a May 11 closed session of the board in the Lawrence High School library at 2525 Princeton Pike. The board anticipates selecting a candidate during the public session and swearing them in at the same meeting.
