A man bought a soda and stole from the open cash register when the clerk made change, police said
EAST WINDSOR - Police are looking for a man who robbed a grocery store clerk late Monday, authorities said.
A man walked into the ShopRite store on Route 130 North around 11:30 p.m. and purchased a soda. When the clerk opened the cash register to make change, the man grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and ran off, police said.
The man was chased by an unknown customer. A witness said the thief told the customer: "Don't grab me. I'll shoot you.''
No gun was shown during the robbery and police saw no weapon on surveillance video, police said.
The thief is described as a black man, between 30-40 years old, standing about 6-feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, black shoes and he walks with a limp, police said.
