Assault rifle among the guns found, along with nearly 300 bags of heroin
TRENTON - Trenton police found a several guns, including an assault rifle, and nearly 300 bags of heroin during a search of several abandoned houses in the city's West Ward, authorities said Tuesday.
Street Crimes Detective Jose Gonzales saw a man leaving the back of an abandoned house in the area of Laurel and Highland avenues. Gonzales chased after the man, but he got away, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Police then searched the yard and several other abandoned houses in the area and found two rifles - a .22 caliber and a SKS assault rifle with a bayonet - a semi-automatic handgun and two stashes of heroin: 1 with 25 bags, another with 252 bags, Varn said.
