No one was injured and the animals were doing fine, authorities said
TRENTON - A Great Dane and two cats were rescued from a fire that partially destroyed a house on the city's South Ward Monday night, authorities said.
Firefighters found a third-floor bedroom ablaze when they arrived on the 100 block of Genesee Street around 8 p.m., Battalion Chief Frank Seidl said.
The fire was contained to the bedroom, where the animals were. It appears the fire started on a mattress in the bedroom and spread to the walls, Seidel said.
No one was injured. No other structures were threatened. The animals were taken for evaluation by Trenton Animal Control, Seidel said.
