Eight victims in seven shootings in Trenton in the past week

TRENTON - A Trenton man was wounded by gunfire Wednesday evening in the third shooting of the day in the Capital City and continuing a spate of gunfire that has hospitalized eight people in less than a week.

The man was walking on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. when he heard a hail of gunfire nearby and realized he was hit. He ran from the area with two gunshots in his left leg and got a ride to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

The man was shot in the left calf and left thigh, shattering his femur, Varn said.

No suspects were identified and no motive was established, Varn said.

Three people were wounded in two other shootings Wednesday.

3 shooting victims in 2 Trenton shootings in 1 day

A man was shot in the abdomen on the first block of Laurel Avenue in the city's West Ward shortly after 1 p.m. His condition was not immediately known.

Two people were shot in the head while sitting in a parked car around 4:30 a.m., police have said.

A man and a woman, whose ages were not immediately available, were also taken to Capital Health Regional, but were later transferred to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Their conditions were also unknown, police said.

No suspects were identified and no motive was immediately available.

In all, eight people have been wounded by gunfire in seven separate shootings since last Thursday.

A 26-year-old man was hospitalized at Capital Health Regional after he was hit in the temple by a gunshot around 5 p.m. on the 200 block of Spring Street Thursday.

21-year-old man was shot numerous times in the legs and torso on the 1100 block of East State Street around 9:45 p.m. Friday.

Police continue to search for two suspects who may be responsible for theshooting of a 15-year-old boy around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

49-year-old man was shot in the back and legs shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday.
